Banana River Cafe started with a simple idea: bring real culinary craft to a relaxed Satellite Beach setting. Chef and owner Emerson Krause has been doing exactly that ever since.
Emerson's culinary foundation
Emerson trained at the Culinary Institute of America, then externed at Michelin-starred Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan. That discipline shows in every plate.
The choice to come home
After his externship, Emerson turned down a full-time position at Gramercy Tavern to return to Florida and open this cafe — a deliberate trade: a prestigious New York kitchen for a neighborhood of his own.
Craft without fuss
That background shows up in the food without announcing itself — quality-conscious cooking, rotating daily specials, and an approachable atmosphere where nobody feels out of place. Florida Today put it plainly in their four-star review: "clean, friendly and quality-conscious, with a touch of creativity that puts it ahead of the pack."
